If I have learned anything during my travels to South Africa, it is that stories are transformational. Stories expand horizons and deepen the colors of life. Stories help us to make sense of our wacky, sometimes crazy world, and they also help us to appreciate it.
From my first trip, and on the first day, South Africans began to share with me their stories. It was often spontaneous, gurgling forth with no prompting. I learned of the abuses of apartheid and the ways people of all colors survived. I heard horrific abuses and lessons learned. I wrote them in my journals and pondered them for a few years. And then I realized that these treasures carried such deep meaning and wisdom, that I had to try to share them with any who were interested. In this blog, I'd like to learn of others stories, your stories, and have them posted here for others to read. We and interact and pass on the life values what these stories illuminate for us. Who's first to share? White guy? Indian woman? Black teen? Coloured elder? You have a place here if you would like to share with us?
